In the early 2000s, Steven Flats, a friend of Ricky Dookeran’s, asked him to take a ride to a place he’d never been. Flats drove the pair 20 minutes west to Woodbine Racetrack, where he worked as a groom in the barn of trainer Steve Owens. Source
